The online admission system is closed for new applications for Grade R, Grade 1 and Grade 8.

You can, however, apply either at an one of our Education District offices or at a school. The schools are able to capture your application.

Grade R, 1 and 8 Applications

Track Application

Parents | Guardians MUST upload the following certified supporting documents:

  • Identification (any of the following):
    • Identity document (ID) / birth certificate (learner)
    • Foreign learners: a passport / a copy of parent’s refugee or asylum seeker permit on which the learner’s name should appear
    • If the learner of foreign parents was born in South Africa (SA): a handwritten birth certificate (DHA 19 form).
    • If the learner was not born in SA: a passport/a refugee or asylum seeker permit issued in the learner’s name.

  • Immunisation card / Road to Health chart (pre-primary and primary schools only)
  • Latest official school / academic report of learner
  • Proof of residence e.g. rates account / lease agreement / an affidavit made at a police station confirming residence

School admissions:

  • Apply to at least 3 schools (Including the ones closest to your home)
  • Indicate your order of preference

Transfer requests for Grades 2-7 and Grades 9-12 must be done via the school you wish to transfer to, and not online.

Learner Transfers (2025):

  • Use this form to submit school transfer requests for learners already attending school in Grades 2-7 and Grades 9-12.

  • Transfer applications are to be done at the relevant school in which the parent/caregiver wishes to apply to or their nearest WCED office.
  • Parents or caregivers will be required to fill out the WCED application form, but can only be submitted to schools or the district office.
  • They will also be required to submit in the relevant supporting documentation:
    • The last school report card;
    • ID, birth certificate, passport, study permit or proof of application or police affidavit; and
    • Proof of address or police affidavit.
  • Parents can drop off the application form and supporting documents directly at the school. They can also contact the school for details on electronic (e-mail) submissions on the official WCED form only.

Online Admission Appeals: All further communication of logged cases must be done on the Online Admission System.

NOTICE: ONLINE ADMISSION APPEALS 2025 ADMISSION YEAR CYCLE

Admission appeals for the 2025 cycle will close on 13 December 2024.

Only parents/guardians with unsuccessful LATE applications, made on or after 1 December 2024, will be able to lodge an appeal using the online admission appeals portal after this date.
