Prince George Primary marks World Book Day with new library
World Book Day is celebrated annually on 23 April and for learners at Prince George Primary School in Lavender Hill, this year’s commemoration was extra special with a donation of a library to the school.
The donation was facilitated by Breadline Africa who approached Novus Holdings to fund the project.
Principal Lameez Rabbaney said the new library is a huge improvement on the small, poorly ventilated room the learners had to use to sit and read their library books. “Now a change has come to Prince George Primary with the new, well ventilated, spacious library, where all our learners can comfortably sit and read a book of their choosing. The possibilities are now endless.”
Carrie Nixon, Corporate Communications and Marketing Manager at Novus Holdings, said the company believe that they need to make an active contribution to better their communities. “Providing schools with much-needed resources, such as libraries, will assist in making this a reality as well as empowering the youth of South Africa to not be limited by their circumstances.”
Marion Wagner, director of Breadline Africa, added that the school was a deserving beneficiary of the library.
