World Teachers’ Day celebrations at CTLI
26 October 2022
The Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute (CTLI) hosted a special programme to honour teachers on World Teachers’ Day.
The theme for World Teachers’ Day 2022 is: The transformation of education begins with teachers.
World Teachers’ Day on 05 October 2022 was in the middle of the Spring school holidays and teachers were attending various courses at the CTLI.
A total of 360 teachers and CTLI staff attended the celebration.
The programme involved a motivational and inspiring keynote address by the Director of the CTLI, Granville Stander.
Two Western Cape National Teaching Awards (NTA) winners, Memory Dizha (Excellence in Mathematics (GET)) and Yolanda Lupondo (Excellence in Special Needs Leadership), paid a surprise visit to thank teachers for the work they do and to inspire them to enter the NTA in 2023.
Various stalls were available such as a “Grab n Go Book Stand” where teachers could take any book of their choice at no cost to them. Old Mutual had a stall and awarded random spot prizes to teachers. An Information and Communication Technology and interactive display was provided for teachers to explore.
Attendees received a pre-packed meal. A photobooth with props was provided to take pictures as part of a memorable day and teachers were encouraged to share their photos on social media.
All teachers who attended the event received a certificate of appreciation via email.
The CTLI acknowledged Gavin de Bruyn, who initiated the programme and led the team to ensure the success thereof.
Teachers enjoyed the appreciation shown by the CTLI’s director and staff with lots of wonderful and positive feedback from them.
