Newly elected members of Provincial Principals Forum

A new group of principals started their two-year term as members of the Provincial Principals Forum.
The PPF discusses matters of mutual interest between the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) and principals’ representatives to improve the quality of learning and teaching at schools under the auspices of the WCED.
Welcoming all newly elected members, Archie Lewis, the Deputy Director-General: Institution Development and Coordination, emphasised that members are representing their district and circuits and not their own individual interests.
The purpose of the circuit, district and provincial principals’ forums includes the following:
- to provide input in national and provincial educational initiatives with the aim of improving the quality of education in all schools under the auspices of the WCED;
- provide a platform for principals to share good practices and to learn from one another; as well as;
- cooperate on any matter relating to the proper functioning of the provincial education system.
Bevil Velensky, Principal of Southfield Primary School, was elected as chairperson and Jakkie Burger as deputy chairperson.
