Paarl Career Exhibition

The annual Cape Winelands Education District’s Paarl career exhibition took place on 12 and 13 February 2020 at the local town hall.
Learners from 12 schools in Paarl and surrounding areas were in attendance. The career exhibition targeted Grade 11 and 12 learners with the aim of supporting their career development process.
An array of 50 exhibitors offered learners insight into tertiary study options at universities, technical and private institutions, as well as TVET colleges. Learners were exposed to a broad spectrum of career categories as offered by both local and international institutions. This provided them with essential information to optimally prepare them for the world of work.
During the career exhibition, Inclusive and Specialised Learner and Educator Support (ISLES) staff engaged with learners about their subject choices and possible career options. The staff were able to direct learners to relevant exhibitors for further guidance regarding career mapping. The teachers who accompanied the learners were able to gain valuable information about study opportunities which further allows them to facilitate sustainable support in the context of career development within the school context.
