Cyclists create cancer awareness
6 February 2020
Groenvlei High School in Lansdowne will be welcoming home this Saturday a group of cyclists that embarked on a 450km journey to spread cancer awareness, promote peace and raise funds.
The group of 21 Groenvlei High Billionetwork Cyclists started their epic challenge, in association with All My Sports SA, on 01 February. They set off on their bicycles on Monday from Suurbraak.
The challenge aimed to raise R300 000 of which R150 000 will go towards peace initiatives at the school and the rest to Ari's Cancer Foundation. On their journey they have visited schools, donating sports gear and stationery.
The public could support the team by sending an SMS to 40553 with the keyword CYCLE to donate R20.
More ardent supporters could donate R1000 for an opportunity to cycle alongside the team on the last leg of the challenge from Stellenbosch to the school.
The Groenvlei High Billionetwork Cyclists will be welcomed home on Saturday with a fair at the school.
The day will start with a Fun Walk followed by a celebration with food stalls and live performances.
Well done for this wonderful initiative!
