Spring school moving to primary school

26 October 2022

Language teachers from Lukhanyo Primary School in Hermanus walked the extra mile during the school holidays.

While their fellow learners were playing at home carefree, the Grade 6 learners attended extra lessons to improve their English skills and knowledge. The activities were aligned with the Annual Teaching Plan and the purpose was to consolidate concepts that may have proved challenging to the learners.

Ms Monageng, Ms Nduzule and Mr Crowley sparked, and the lessons were very interactive and lively, much to the enjoyment of the learners.

The English Senior Education Specialist from the Overberg Education District, Ms Fisher, joined and brought her own flavour to the spring school.

Mr Tshabalala, the principal, was also present and supported the teachers.

It can be described as a very successful initiative. More than 80 learners attended daily and were provided with a meal during break.

The programme included psychosocial well-being and the learners could voice their emotions in a safe space. The activities incorporated music, dancing and tapping into existing knowledge and learners learned while having fun, unaware that they were learning.

Well done Mr Crowley and team.
