South Peninsula High School’s Post Exam Programme

28 November 2019

While learners have finished writing exams, the school year is not over yet and schools like South Peninsula High School in Diep River organise extensive post exam programmes to keep learners busy.

Principal Zeid Baker said their programme has been in operation for more than a decade. “Being a school that has a broad curriculum, cultural, sport and co-curricular programme, teachers are very receptive to involve our students in programmes during a less stressful period.”

Baker said he was blessed with a dedicated staff going the extra mile with the post exam programme while they also have marking, schedules to complete and reports to sign. Many of the activities on offer are extensions of the curriculum, for example: bridge building, drama, music, art, expo for young scientists, etc. The school combined this with various sport activities. “In essence, coupled with the Robotics and First Aid program, the host of programmes cater for students with different interests. It also promote smaller group activities. One or two events are also fundraisers for trips in 2020,” Baker added.

He said attendance was good, especially considering the fact that South Peninsula was a commuting school and largely dependent on buses transporting the learners.
