Singing and dancing as Masiyile High School opens new hall

13 June 2019

More than three decades after the school first opened its doors in 1987, Masiyile Secondary School in Khayelitsha finally has a school hall

The new R7.2 million rand facility was made possible by a donation from the Garden Cities Archway Foundation and the Western Cape Education Department.

At the official opening ceremony on Saturday, 01 June, Principal Sisa Sodlaka said the hall meant that the 1 000+ learners and educators at the school would no longer be inconvenienced by assembling in the open.

Garden Cities group chief executive officer John Matthews said his company was close to building 100 halls in celebration of its 100 years of existence.

The Circuit Manager, Mark Mofoking, appealed to the community to protect the hall so that generations to come should find it in the same condition.

“The structure will be here long after us. We are custodians of what we have. My wish for you is, that this hall still look like this in the next 100 years. We must all take responsibility to protect it.”

A very big thank you to Garden Cities for their continued support for Quality Education in this Province.
