Rave reviews for WCED’s Women’s Leadership Webinar

9 September 2020

Inspiring, informative and unforgettable. These were some of the words used to describe the Western Cape Education Department’s Women’s Leadership Webinar on Saturday, 9 August 2020.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the department had to change the format of its annual female principals conference to an online event this year and it proved to be a hit with attendees. Responses included: “Thanks for inviting me to listen to these wonderful speakers, I appreciate the switch to a webinar instead of postponing to 2021!” and “Truly so proud to be part of this historic celebration.”

The theme of this year’s event was “Self-care in Covid times”. Guest speakers included Karina Andersen, Depth Coach, Life Ndlovu, Teacher and COVID Survivor, Dr Arifa Parker-Infectious Diseases Specialist at Tygerberg Hospital, and Mel Jones, South African Comedian Extraordinaire.

Some schools like Masipathisane Primary School in Vredenburg, arranged a special event for their staff to enjoy the webinar together while still observing social distancing protocols and hygiene protocols.

The presentations have been uploaded to the WCED’s eportal: https://wcedeportal.co.za/teacher_categories_page/103006/eLearning/all/all/eLearning/Professional%20Learning?shs_term_node_tid_depth=105006
