Marconi Beam Primary School Idea cloud success story

7 November 2019

Marconi Beam Primary School in the Milnerton area has reported amazing successes brought about by IDEA teaching and learning resources.

Brighton Chinembiri, a Grade 3 teacher and e-Learning Coordinator, said since the arrival of Windows tablets at the school, he was always hungry for e-learning resources to use with the tablets.

Idea cloud was introduced to the school in August last year and Chinembiri said it has been a positive experience. “Idea Cloud has an excellent user friendly interface which makes it easy to interact with the content.”

Chinembiri said one of the major benefits is that the program is CAPS aligned. The program migrates learners from dependency to independence. “Learners enjoy working in a less threatening environment remotely from the teacher. The teacher is there to offer minimal support as the learners already get clear instructions and examples from the avatar and audio.”

He credited Idea Cloud for helping with class management and said learners who would normally misbehave are eager to work on the tablets instead of drawing attention in negative ways.

Learners are able to log in to the program on android phones at home and parents reported that the children were enthusiastic about their school work and watched less television.

“There has been a notable rise in the pass rate in my class. Idea Cloud has become a large contributory factor in the permanency of learning and retention of concepts in the learning process.”
