De Grendel School of Skills becomes beneficiary of new tech lab

17 November 2022

De Grendel School of Skills in Milnerton has become a beneficiary of a new technology lab, handed over by Rectron PTY (LTD), a subsidiary of the Mustek group on Tuesday, 1 November 2022.

Rectron has partnered with various organisations to assist in supporting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education for the youth. Rectron selected De Grendel as the fifth beneficiary in its CSI programme, named Progressive Educational Upliftment.

De Grendel School of Skills has a strong focus on skillsets for learners, especially future artisans and Rectron recognised this and have decided to support the school in the province.

With a budget of R300 000, Rectron provided the school with 33 laptops, electrical power to the lab as well as other equipment needed for the lab to fully function. The company has also partnered with its suppliers to provide the school with other equipment needed for the lab and to also revamp the look of the current lab for a modernised look and feel.

Andre Smith, principal of De Grendel School of Skills, said “many of our learners have special needs and come from former underprivileged areas. Our school empowers these young people with the necessary skills for the world of work. The Technolab will help to further this objective, by providing digital education opportunities for learning and development.”

The Western Cape Education Department would like to thank Rectron PTY (LTD) for identifying one of our schools as part of their Progressive Educational Upliftment program and for helping us to provide quality education for every learner, in every classroom, in every school in this province.
