Cecil Road Primary School gets a new library
The MAL Foundation opened their 14th school library at Cecil Road Primary School in Salt River.
Principal Shahid Mathews said the new library will lead to improved levels of literacy at the community-based school which turns 82 years old this month.
Mathews said over the past eight months many role players worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the project a reality. “I would like to thank LEAD SA, Network BBDO and more specifically, the MAL Foundation for their belief and investment into the school. Also a big thank you to Breadline Africa for your support and contributions towards this project.”
Mike Schalit of the MAL Foundation said they collaborate with other organisations to put libraries into schools. In an interview on CapeTalk, Schalit said they saw the power of creativity and the power of ideas to put back. “The results have been quite amazing and quite inspiring.”
