Career Awareness Competition Winners Announced

On Monday, 29 April, Western Cape Minister of Education, Debbie Schäfer congratulated learners at Oval North High School who won a number of prizes that were up for grabs in an Apprenticeship Game Changer Career Awareness competition.

The competition ran in 71 Technical High and Maths and Science Schools in the first term.

The competition was linked to a series of Career Awareness posters that were rolled out to schools promoting apprenticeships as a viable career path. Prizes included two ICT bursaries from Pearson Institute of High Education, 3 Apprenticeships at Imperial Technical Training Academy and tablets. The school with the most entries won R100 000 for additional Smart Classrooms.

Over 6500 valid entries were received from across the province. Winners were drawn from a number of schools including Oval North, Sophumelela, Philippi, Spine Road High Schools and the Centre for Science and Technology (COSAT).
