Camps Bay learner wins second prize in Beeld Kreatiewe-Skryfkompetisie

11 December 2020

One of Francois Kemp's Afrikaans essays was entered into the Beeld Creative Writing Competition by his Afrikaans teacher, Michelle Janse-van Rensburg. The national competition attracted entries from all over the country.

The Grade 12 learner’s essay entitled, "My Liefde in Fokus" was awarded joint-second prize in the Afrikaans First Additional Language division of the competition. Francois shared the R2 000 prize money for second place, as well as two graphic design courses.

Janse-van Rensburg also entered the essays of two other matric learners - Alaya Ashby and Tyrese Jones - into the competition. Although they did not win any prizes, they contributed to Camps Bay High School being recognised as one of the Top 10 Afrikaans First Additional Language Schools in the country.

Janse-van Rensburg said "Francois is a gifted learner but also works exceptionally hard to achieve the incredible results he does.  We are so very proud of him!"
