Applications for SEA Chief Evaluator now open

22 May 2019

Suitably qualified individuals interested in the role of Chief Evaluator, the administrative head of the School Evaluations Authority (SEA), have until Thursday 13 June 2019 to submit their applications. The SEA was created to independently evaluate schools and develop school evaluation reports which will be published to provide parents and communities with insight into school functionality and performance.

The purpose of the SEA is to support school improvement in the Western Cape. Its focus is on identifying factors that impact on performance in the areas that matter most for quality education delivery at school level – particularly learning, safety, leadership, and governance.

The Chief Evaluator will be expected to, among others, provide outstanding leadership to the SEA;  ensure the delivery of high-quality evaluations of school performance; ensure efficient administration of the SEA; and implement, review, and improve the school evaluation policy, model and tools in line with Provincial policies and international best practice.

Applicants must possess appropriate knowledge of or experience in education, including substantial organisational leadership skills and proven experience in leading and managing change in a complex environment.

The successful candidate will be appointed for a non-renewable term of four years.
