2022 Metro North Creative Writing Project

17 November 2022

The Metro North Education District recently celebrated the creative writing potential of Grade 7 learners in the district.

The creative writing competition was first introduced in 2013 for learners taking Afrikaans Home Language and First Additional Language. Categories for English Home Language and First Additional Language as well as isiXhosa Home Language were added in 2019.

District officials evaluated the top essays of schools. The top 13 finalists were recognised at a prize-giving ceremony last month for Afrikaans, English and isiXhosa Home Language and Afrikaans and English First Additional Language. Each of the 13 learners receive a substantive book prize as well as a trophy and certificate.

A few scintillating (dazzlingly impressive) essays were published in a resource called, Wen met jou pen! Inking your thinking! Cinga ngosiba lwakho!

The judges said it was very difficult to choose the essays to be published in the book, and even more difficult to determine the winners.

The booklet was disseminated at the prize-giving event on Thursday, 13 October 2022.
