2021 Eskom Expo International Science Fair winners

The Western Cape entered 100 projects in this year’s Eskom Expo International Science Fair and bagged 28 gold medals, 29 silver medals, 32 bronze medals and 8 highly commended certificates.
The team, mostly girls, consisted of 131 learners from 31 schools. Amongst them were eight junior category winners and four senior category winners.
A total of 17 projects received special awards and 12 learners have been selected to attend a five-day virtual innovation and entrepreneurship boot camp presented by the Technology Innovation Agency. The boot camp, valued at R500 000, will prepare learners to advance their innovations from idea to product development and new venture creation.
The Eskom Expo is the oldest and most prestigious science fair in the country with awards this year worth R16 million. This includes a range of bursaries to fund studies at tertiary institutions.
