Purpose:

To manage the labour relations within the Department.

Misconduct Grievances and Disputes (Rural)

Purpose:

To handle all labour relations matters regarding misconduct and grievances.

Functions:

  • Handle misconduct and grievance matters.
  • Render labour relations advice.
  • Develop and implement strategies in order to prevent labour unrest.
  • Initiate and promote training regarding misconduct and grievance matters.

Misconduct Grievance and Disputes (Metropole)

Purpose:

To handle all labour relations matters regarding misconduct and grievances.

Functions:

  • Handle misconduct and grievance matters.
  • Render labour relations advice.
  • Develop and implement strategies in order to prevent labour unrest.
  • Initiate and promote training regarding misconduct and grievance matters.

Collective Bargaining, Training and Administration

Purpose:

To develop labour relations policy and procedures, research and manage the collective bargaining process.

Functions:

  • Formulate, evaluate and monitor policy and procedures.
  • Do research regarding labour relations matters.
  • Represent the employer in collective bargaining forums.
  • Manage and co-ordinate the employer functions originating from the education sector and provincial education sector bargaining council.
  • Facilitate and coordinate dispute resolution procedures of the bargaining council.
  • Implement and monitor the application of collective arrangement.

Advisory Services: LR

Purpose:

To render specialist labour law advice to the MEC, Top Management and the department regarding industrial relation issues.

Functions:

  • Develop and implement relevant policies and strategies.
  • Provide legal advice and direction on labour related issues.
  • Provide legal opinions on all labour related issues.
  • Provide training and development on labour related issues.
