Purpose:

To manage the development and coordination of GET curriculum policy frameworks, subjects, learning programmes as well as teaching and learning support.

Functions:
  • To manage the development and coordination of curriculum policy frameworks, subject as well as teaching and learning support.
  • To manage the development and coordination of curriculum policy frameworks in respect of ECD, FP and Intermediate and Senior Phases.

Subjects

Purpose:

To manage the development and coordination of GET curriculum policy frameworks, subjects, learning programmes as well as teaching and learning support.

Functions:

  • Coordinate curriculum research and development within subjects.
  • Coordinate curriculum development initiatives within the Subject context.
  • Contribute to national curriculum policy development with respect to subjects.
  • Monitor, support and evaluate all provincial interventions within the subject context.
  • Develop policy documents, guidelines and training materials in support of subjects.

Foundation Phase

Purpose:

To manage the development and coordination of curriculum policy frameworks in respect of Foundation Phase Languages and Mathematics.

Functions:

  • Coordinate curriculum research and development within Foundation Phase Mathematics and Reading strategy.
  • Coordinate curriculum research and development for curriculum adaptation within Foundation Phase Mathematics & Languages in order to include learners with special needs.
  • Coordinate curriculum development initiatives within the Foundation Phase context.
  • Contribute to national curriculum policy development with respect to Foundation Phase Mathematics & Languages.
  • Monitor, support and evaluate all provincial interventions within the Foundation Phase and Mathematics and Language context.
  • Develop policy documents, guidelines and training materials in support of Foundation Phase and Mathematics and Languages.

Intermediate and Senior Phases (InterSen)

Functions:

  • Coordinate curriculum research and development within the InterSen.
  • Coordinate curriculum research and development for curriculum adaptation in all subjects in the Intermediate and Senior Phases (Grade 4 – 9)
  • Coordinate curriculum development initiatives in the Intermediate and Senior Phases.
  • Contribute to national curriculum policy development in the Intermediate and Senior Phases.
  • Monitor, support and evaluate all provincial interventions in the Intermediate and Senior Phases.
  • Develop policy documents, guidelines and training materials in support of all subjects in the Intermediate and Senior Phases.
