News24 Super Schools Competition
22 October 2020
News24 has launched a competition to celebrate schools and teachers who went beyond the call of duty to help learners through the lockdown.
Members of the public are invited to nominate these superheroes in one of three categories.
Schools: Best Covid-19 'keep learning' initiative
Nominate a school that found an innovative way to let their learners continue to learn. Whether it was with a creative way to keep social distancing in class, or a clever way to distribute homework, this school thought outside the box to make sure disruption of the school year was kept at a minimum. We want to see creativity and a clever use of whatever resources your school had at its disposal.
Teacher of the year
Did your teacher exhibit superpowers by going the extra mile to make sure your essays are graded? Did he bring your homework to your doorstep or WhatsApp your daily lesson? We are looking for teachers whose extra efforts ensured their learners did not fall behind with their work, well beyond the call of duty.
Pupils' award: Best charity initiative
Did you, your class or a class that you know of make an effort to help someone in need due to the Covid-19 pandemic? Tell us what you did, who you helped and why you did so?
Nominations close on 25 October. The panel of judges will choose five finalists in each category. Readers will then be able to vote for the winners. The winner in each category will be featured on News24. Nominations can be made via email to chatback@parent24.com or by completing this entry form. Written submissions must not be more than 300 words and may include photos. Nominators are encouraged to enter video or audio submissions (no longer than 3 minutes).
In addition to the motivation, included in the nomination must be the following:
Name of the school, teacher or class/learners you are nominating, the province in which the school is located, the contact number and/or email address of the nominee or school, the name and contact details of person making the nomination.
Who can nominate? Anyone! Parents, colleagues, principals and pupils are welcome.
