Registrations open for Creative Arts Education Conference

29 July 2021

Rustenburg Girls’ Junior School, in partnership with the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) General Education and Training (GET) Curriculum Directorate, is presenting a Creative Arts Conference.

This is a two-day virtual conference on 27 and 28 August 2021 themed ‘Equity and Diversity in Creative Arts Education’.

The conference will provide teachers with the tools needed to offer quality creative arts education for every learner, whether they have specialist training and, more specifically, if they don’t. It will showcase the critical role the Creative Arts has in working towards equity and diversity in our schools. It will introduce educators to new technology that will keep learners engaged in Creative Arts learning.

The conference will create the platform for teachers to learn, discover and explore ideas and realise their capabilities to make the arts come alive for all children in schools. More than that, the conference aims to create opportunities for connection so that teachers can support one another and develop their professional learning networks across schools and communities.

The organisers want all teachers, irrespective of their knowledge and skill level in teaching the Creative Arts, to walk away with tools that enhance their everyday practice in their classrooms.

The CAC2021 will be the meeting place for all teachers responsible for teaching Creative Arts from Gr R - 9 in South African schools and then also for school leadership teams. It will bring a fresh perspective of why arts education must be vital as part of every child’s holistic development and it aims to connect the dots to assist teachers to  use an integrated approach, teaching the arts and infuse the teaching of the subject with digital innovation.

All attendees will earn 20 CPDT points and a Kami Level 1 Certification will be awarded at no cost to educators.

The conference agenda is jam packed with seven panel discussion sessions, two keynote speakers and 16 workshops to select from.
