CTLI -  a hive of activity during school holidays

The Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute offered various training opportunities for teachers during the school holiday’s.

In the field of ICT Integration training, courses for primary school teachers in the Foundation Phase and Intersen Phase were offered. The training was delivered at the CTLI in Kuils River and in George, Beaufort West and Malmesbury.

The ICT Integration courses aimed to equip teachers with a good understanding of how technology can be integrated into the 21st century classroom.

An Aspiring School Leaders course during the second week of the holiday was aimed at any teacher (Post level 1) aspiring towards school management and leadership positions.
The holiday offer also included learning opportunities for:

  • School Management Teams involving teams consisting of the Principal, Deputy-Head and Head(s) of Department focusing on aspects such as the institutional imperative of the school management leaders of an effective public ordinary school, team dynamics, communication and collaboration.
  • enrolled teachers in the Advance Diploma in Education (ADE) in Mathematics; and
  • participants in the Advanced Certificate (ACE) in Foundation and Intersen Phase.

Dr Heinie Brand, Director: Teacher Professional Development, said being a very active hub where professional learning takes place, holiday involvement and the CTLI are synonymous. “The CTLI and the WCED applaud all teachers for the incredible dedication during weekends and holiday periods. This spirit of commitment has resulted in very positive outcomes for each school and learners all over the province.”
