Boland athlete wins gold at national championships

4 May 2023

Jordin Gabriels of Ruêns College in Bredasdorp finished the year unbeaten in the 800m and 1500m for boys under 13.

The Boland Primary Schools Cross-country Athlete of the year for 2022 was in devastating form this year, controlling every race from the start to finish, and even breaking the Western Cape 1 500m record (4:24.97) and the 800m record (2:07.27).

Jordin represented the Western Cape at the SA Primary Schools Championships in Pietermaritzburg where he competed in the 1 500m and 800m races.

In the 1 500m final, Jordin ran an excellent time of 4:14.46 and thereafter he competed in the 800m final where he ran a more impressive time of 2:03.97.  For this, Jordin received two gold medals.

After a stellar track and field season, Jordin will now turn his focus to the cross-country events which started in April.

We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Jordin Gabriels – remember the name!
