Purpose:

To manage the supply chain and provide logistic support to the WCED.

Functions:
  • Develop, monitor and evaluate supply chain management policy, planning and performance for the WCED.
  • Manage the supply chain management operations function.
  • Exercise control over the asset management functions.
  • Manage a logistic support service to the department.
SCM Planning, Policy and Performance Management

Purpose:

To develop, monitor and evaluate supply chain management policy, planning and performance.

Functions:

  • Determine WCED supply chain management needs.
  • Develop and maintain SCM policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Monitor supply chain management performance.
SCM Operations

Purpose:

To manage the SCM operations function

Functions:

  • Exercise control over the demand management function.
  • Exercise control over the acquisition management function.
  • Exercise control over the contract management function.
Asset Management

Purpose:

To exercise control over the asset management function.

Functions:

  • Manage the stock-take.
  • Record items in inventory and asset register.
  • Maintain asset register.
  • Bar-code items.
  • Dispose of assets.
  • Manage loss control of assets.
Logistic Support Services

Purpose:

To manage the logistic support services of the department.

Functions:

  • Manage GG and public transport.
  • Manage telecom services.
