W Cape builds 12 schools in 2007/08 Statement by Cameron Dugmore, MEC for Education in the Western Cape The Western Cape will build 12 schools during the 2007/08 financial year - eight primary schools and four secondary schools. The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has allocated R178-million to building schools in 2007/08. Earlier this year, contractors completed Vredendal Primary School two months ahead of schedule. This means that during the 2007 calendar year, the province will have completed, or will be in the process of completing, nine primary schools. These schools are: Samora Marchall Primary School (Weltenvreden)
Vredendal Primary School (Vredendal)
Smutsville Primary School (Smutsville)
Sedgefield Primary School (Sedgefield)
Table View Primary School (Table View)
Heinz Park Primary School (Heinz Park)
Khayelitsha Primary School Number 1 (Khayalitsha)
Delft N2 Gateway Primary School (Delft)
Dalebuhle Primary School (Franschoek) Meanwhile, the province is building the following secondary schools during the 2007/08 financial year: Khayelitsha Number 1 Secondary School (Khayalitsha)
Khayelitsha Number 2 Secondary School (Khayalitsha)
Khayelitsha Number 3 Secondary School (Khayalitsha)
Khayamandi Secondary School (Stellenbosch) The names of the schools may change. As a general rule, the school governing body will recommend the final name of the school once the school has opened.
