7. Teachers are encouraged to stimulate the creativity of learners in generating innovative business ideas for products and services, especially taking indigenous knowledge and the performing arts into account. An over-emphasis on sweets and foodstuff should be discouraged.
8. Teachers are reminded to make use of the My Business books to assist learners with this project. The My Business books were sent to schools in May 2007. They are available on the EMS website at http://curriculum.pgwc.gov.za/site/123/res/view/958.
9. The WCED hopes that this initiative will encourage learners, on leaving school, to set up their own businesses and, in so doing, stimulate job creation in the Western Cape.
10. Principals are requested to bring the content of this minute to the attention of all the teachers concerned and to support this initiative.
11. Enquiries may be directed to the Senior Curriculum Planner for Economic and Management Sciences, Mr Jerome Gordon, at tel 021 467 2566 or e-mail address jegordon@pgwc.gov.za
