1. The UNESCO-initiated World Book Day celebration is held annually on 23 April, William Shakespeare's date of birth.
2. This year's theme for the day is READING IS THE KEY, reflecting the importance of reading for life-long learning, cognitive development and psychological well-being. Schools are encouraged to acknowledge the value of reading by participating enthusiastically in reading-based activities on World Book Day.
3. Attached is a list of suggestions, compiled by the staff of EDULIS (WCED Education Library and Information Service), for school activities to mark World Book Day in a rewarding and an enjoyable way.

4. Schools may obtain a colourful poster depicting the spirit of World Book Day from one of the following:
