1. Heads of centres who enter part-time candidates for the Senior Certificate examination are reminded that these candidates may not be entered for any subject that has a practical component. This includes all the practical subjects, as well as subjects such as Home Economics, Computer Studies and Travel and Tourism.
2. The practical components of these subjects have to be moderated by curriculum advisers. The workload of these advisers does not allow them to moderate work done at centres that are not registered with the WCED, or to visit ABET centres in the evenings.
3. Discussions for the possible inclusion of practical subjects in the curriculums of ABET centres in the future are being held with the national Department of Education .
4. Centres will be informed should it become possible for part-time candidates to offer any practical subjects.
