“Value-drivers” in the Eden and Central Karoo Education District

The Eden and Central Karoo Education District Office has been celebrating and living their values for quite some time now and has incorporated it into their daily work routines and practices.

This month, the District has identified “Competence” as their value for the month of March and has their own unique way of promoting the new value of the month.

Desmond Maarman, Director of Eden and Central Karoo District, said that last month the District chose “Caring” as its value, and wore yellow throughout the month.

“ This month, we are celebrating Competence by wearing the colour red,” said Maarman. “In all seven offices, that is the district office and the 6 circuit offices, we promote the new value with a coffee bar every month.”

Maarman said the coffee bar allowed for the opportunity to get everyone together to display the new value of the month.

“Each component in the District will be given the chance to display and promote the new value and express what the value represents each month.”

The occasion allows for further discussion on what the value signifies and how it can be lived each month.

“Last month SLES promoted the value of ‘Caring’. This month Corporate Services will exhibit the value of ‘Competence’,” he said.
