Provincial Principals Forum ends their term on a high note

4 December 2019

The two-year term of the Provincial Principals Forum (PFF) came to an end in November 2019 and new members are due to be elected in January 2020.

The forum discusses matters of mutual interest between the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) and principals’ representatives to improve the quality of learning and teaching at schools under the auspices of the WCED.

The forum was led by Bernie Marchand, principal of Fairbairn College.

Marchand has been a member of the PPF for eight years and Chairman for six years. “During this period, I have interacted with two Heads of Education, a large number of Senior Management Staff of the WCED and a vast number of Principals throughout the Western Cape.

“This interaction has been rewarding for WCED officials and Principals alike.  I urge my fellow Principals to be available to stand for office for the 2020 – 2021 term.”

At their last meeting, Head of Education, Brian Schreuder, thanked all those members who served during the current term for their excellent leadership and the contributions they made to achieve their overall goal of developing partnerships for education reform and improving the delivery of quality education. He said the forums were hubs of constructive interaction at circuit, district and provincial level.

Districts and schools are reminded that circuits and districts must elect new chairpersons and vice-chairpersons at their circuit and district forum meetings at the start of 2020 for a new two-year term until the end of 2021.
