ICT Integration Conference

30 May 2019

High school teachers who attended an ICT Integration Conference at the Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute (CTLI) on 11 May 2019 were inspired and encouraged to use technology at their disposal in a truly effective and transformational way.

The theme of the conference was “Navigate the Future”, and attendees expressed their excitement to get back to their schools and implement their new skills.

@Helena 86563125 tweeted: “Wow! At last I am equipped to write the coolest app for High School Maths!”

@IamFirdaws said: “Navigated Parky the Penguin to its future. Can’t wait to do the same for my learners.”

@Carlin63155471 tweeted: “Nikki with the video session and Edpuzzle was fantastic. Thanks so much. Was a great day, worth the drive and getting up early on a Saturday morning. Thank you WCED_CTLI.”

The conference was well attended with 190 participants and 17 presenters, most of them teachers themselves.

Arthur Preston, Principal of Sweet Valley Primary, and Gafieza Ismail, DCES: eLearning, were the keynote speakers. Preston said it was good to see so many teachers invested in the present and future of their children.

Head of Education, Brian Schreuder, commended participants for availing their time to attend such an inspiring event.

Based on the feedback for participants, it was evident that the conference was a huge success.

The great teamwork by the ICT Integration Unit at the CTLI must be applauded. The team provided an excellent professional development opportunity for high school teachers in the province.
