Cyber Effect initiative launched

Date: 5 May 2019

On the 4th May 2019, the WCED eLearning Directorate launched the first Cyber Effect developmental training session at Heideveld Secondary School in Metro Central Education District.

The aim of The Cyber Effect initiative is to help teachers to transform pedagogy through cyber actualization.

Since the internet has become an indispensable part of human daily activities, we need to further empower educator interaction whether it be through social media, the connecting of global communities, the creation of professional learning networks and online forums. A teacher must ultimately be able to navigate through the online universe.

Our teachers are also responsible in guiding our learners and helping them to navigate their way safely and productively through the online space.

The Cyber Effect also aims to empower heroic imaginations in our learners and teachers; developing content that is positive and serves our communities and world. It is about capacitating our teachers with the skills and confidence to adopt mobile devices in their learning environments, bringing learning to life, and developing the social and cognitive skills needed to impart to our learners that are essential in the 21st Century.

WCED eLearning Director Clinton Walker welcomed participants at the conference and Elsabe Hart from Microsoft SA presented on how teachers can explore safety in the online world.

The next Cyber Effect developmental training session is set to take place in Eden Karoo & Central Education District on the 18th May 2019. See registration link here: http://bit.ly/cybereffectregistration_ECKED
