Collaborative partnership between Rotary and the WCED

On Friday 5 April 2019, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Western Cape Education Department and Rotary District 9350, signaling the start of a partnership that both parties believe will make a significant difference in education throughout the Western Cape.

Brian Schreuder, the Superintendent General of Education for the Western Cape, and David Holtzhausen, District Governor Elect for Rotary District 9350,  signed this important agreement in a ceremony attended by various senior officials from the Department and Rotary District.

The agreement signifies the start of a collaborative partnership between Rotary and the WCED, which will help bring together and coordinate the extraordinary work being done in our schools by Rotary and other partners, and multiply the results and benefits from these initiatives.

Mr Schreuder indicated he is looking forward to working with Rotary in the years ahead and knowing that, together, we are all working on a better education system in the province and are providing greater support for learners who are coming through the system now and in the future.

Mr Holtzhausen also added that by entering into a formal partnership, both parties can benefit. By helping to marshal additional resources to deal with some of the challenges faced by schools, they are facilitating the drive towards future growth in education.

Both parties agree that this is a significant milestone in the work done by Rotary in the field of education at all levels, and look forward to the results of the partnership in the future.

The WCED is happy to work with organizations that wish to align with our vision and priorities.
