Change Mindset Pilot for Non-teaching Officials Exceeds Expectations

18 November 2020

The long-anticipated pilot of the Change Mindset for Non-Teaching Officials (CMNT) programme, has finally taken flight on Tuesday, 3 November 2020. The programme is one of the Change Mindset pillar's two offerings under the Transform to Perform (T2P) strategy.

The pilot, largely developed by Provincial CMNT Pillar Manager, Alexis Andraos, in conjunction with T2P Strategy Driver, Warda Conrad, birthed at Metropole North Education District with a one day highly participatory session. Wendy Horn, Metro North Education District (MNED) Director, kicked off proceedings with a hearty welcome address to the initial 30 participants as well as the T2P Head Office Team.

A short while later, a visibly chuffed Conrad addressed the participants comprising of non-teaching officials from across salary levels 1 to 8. She shared the programme’s intention and contextualised how it fits in with the T2P strategy. Conrad, a qualified neurolinguistic practitioner, could hardly contain her enthusiasm for trying out the new material, and actively exchanged roles and collaborated with Andraos - for a full session of the training!

Over the next three years, Andraos and a team of facilitators across the province intend rolling out part one of CMNT, namely Personal Mastery, which focuses on transforming limiting belief systems into ones that not only affirm all employees with a sense of purpose, but also align with the organisation’s core values.  Part two will focus on the Power of Service Delivery.

Another workshop with a different group of participants from the MNED took place the next day, and another in the Eden and Central Karoo Education District on Friday, 6 November 2020. Judging by the monitoring tools and word of mouth feedback, participants are delighted with their new-found assuredness. One participant made her feelings quite clear after a session. “I’m at a better place than I have realised,” she said, “the exercises we did confirmed this - thank you!”
