Camps Bay schools join forces with fire relief effort
23 April 2021
Camps Bay Primary and High School joined forces this week to assist various organisations and individuals affected by the fires on Table Mountain and at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and have filled three bakkie loads of goods which have been distributed to those in need.
The schools collected toiletries, food, clothing and other miscellaneous items for the UCT Student Representative Council (SRC) which is currently based at the UCT Graduate School of Business and have delivered items to the grateful SRC reps earlier this week.
Many of the students left on Sunday with only the clothes on their back and were in need of various items including toiletries, underwear, stationery, linen and clothing.
In addition, the schools collected bandages, medication, dressings and food for the wild animals affected by the fire currently in the care of the Cape of Good Hope SPCA. These items were delivered to the Wildlife Unit of the SPCA at the Cape of Good Hope SPCA in Grassy Park.
The schools donated sandwiches, energy drinks, energy bars, eye drops, headache tablets, etc. to the Fire Department which were delivered to the Fire Department in Sea Point on Monday and Tuesday.
Grade 2NS Class also made the most beautiful card made up individual artworks to thank all the fire fighters. This was delivered to the Sea Point Fire Department on Wednesday.
The Primary school learners produced thank-you notes for the firefighters in appreciation for what they do.
A true values-driven initiative by the learners of Camps Bay!
