Camps Bay High learner wins Squash Open
5 March 2021
Lochlan Williamson, a Grade 12 learner at Camps Bay High School was crowned the U19 Champion of the Boland Squash Open this past weekend.
The Boland Open is one of the most prestigious tournaments on the Squash SA calendar, attracting top players from all over the Western Cape.
Lochlan went into the tournament seeded sixth, and had a tough route through to the final, beating the No. 14, No 12 and No. 4 seeds in the group phase (all 3-0). He then put on a clinical masterclass of high-quality squash in the Final against the No. 2 seed, winning 3-0.
This tournament win comes after his impressive runner-up position in the 2020 WP Open four months ago.
Lochlan's younger brother, Brody Williamson who is in Grade 9 at Camps Bay High School and has his WP colours for squash, performed very well in the Boys U16 tournament. He was seeded #8 and won 5 of his 7 matches to finish 6th out of 24 competitors.
Both Williamson brothers take this impressive form into the Bloemfontein Open in three weeks, determined to improve their SA National rankings ahead of the Inter-Provincial Tournament in July.
