Belgravia HS Dance World Champion
13 June 2019
The WCED would like to congratulate Bilquees Alexander (17), from Belgravia High School, who won a Gold in the solo category and a Silver in the duo category at the Dance Star World Dance Championship held in Croatia recently. She participated in the B League in the Open Discipline.
Ever since the age of 5, Bilquees has been affiliated with the Eoan Group and The Performing Arts Group in Athlone.
During this period, she developed a particular affinity for dancing, and more specifically, for competitive and professional dancing. She currently participates in two-hour sessions and trains one hour every day.
Three qualities stand out in Bilquees – her humility, goal directness and her work ethic.
These qualities embody the Belgravia High slogan for the year:
“EXCELLENCE NEVER HAPPENS BY CHANCE.
It is always the result of
and the ABILITY TO SEE
STUMBLING BLOCKS AS OPPORTUNITIES”
When asked by Mr Andre Buis, principal of Belgravia High School, what the recipe for success would look like, he said; “Consistent hard work, executing a tight plan and having a winning attitude!”
The principal, staff, learners and the extended parent community of Belgravia High School are extremely proud of Bilquees impeccable achievements. We, at the WCED, are all now too!
