The Directorate: Labour Relations consists of the following Sub-Directorates:

Sub-directorate: Collective Bargaining, Policy, Research and Training

Functions:

  • All negotiations / consultations with unions and stakeholders are facilitated by the chief negotiator and the core negotiating team of the WCED.
  • Responsible for drafting policy and conducting research on transversal Labour Relations matters.
  • This component is further responsible for all training in Labour Relations matters.

Sub-directorate: Grievances, Disputes and Misconduct

Functions:  Disputes and Grievances

  • Responsible for managing the resolution of all grievances and disputes.
  • All disputes are referred to this component where investigations are initiated, recommendations and reports drafted and ultimately the employer are represented in arbitrations.
  • In addition
    • Responsible for managing the resolution of all disciplinary matters.
    • All serious misconduct is referred to this component where investigations are initiated, recommendations and reports drafted, charges formulated and ultimately the disciplinary hearings conducted.
    • Responsible for managing the speedy resolution of all arbitrations.

  • All serious misconduct is referred to this component where investigations are initiated, recommendations and reports drafted, charges formulated and ultimately the disciplinary hearings conducted.
  • Responsible for managing the speedy resolution of all arbitrations.
  • Responsible for managing the resolution of all appeals.
  • In addition
    • Responsible for managing the resolution of all grievances and disputes.
    • All disputes are referred to this component where investigations are initiated, recommendations and reports drafted and ultimately the employer are represented in arbitrations.
