Minister Schäfer visits NSC marking centre. Statement by Minister Debbie Schäfer, Minister of Education Today I visited the main NSC marking centre to see for myself, the huge task that is undertaken to mark over 800 000 examination scripts. The marking of the 2015 NSC examinations began en masse this weekend (5th December 2015) and will continue until 14th December 2015. The WCED has appointed 3 659 markers to mark the examination scripts. To ensure that all the marks of our markers are correctly totalled, the WCED has appointed 525 mark checkers. This year a record number of 55 919 full time candidates and 12 251 part-time candidates wrote the 2015 NSC examinations. The examinations were written at 442 examination centres across the province with the final exam written on the 27th November 2015. This year 102 examination papers were written and over 800 000 examination scripts distributed. Our main concern is to protect the integrity of the NSC and to do so we have ensured that the marking centres have high levels of security 24 hours a day. The much anticipated results of the NSC are expected to be announced on the 5th of January 2015 by Minister Motshekga. Schools and candidates will receive their results on the 6th January 2015. I would like to thank the markers, moderators and officials for their dedication and commitment to ensuring that this is a credible process. | |
