The Western Cape Education Department has started marking the scripts of more than 6 900 candidates who registered to write the national Senior Certificate supplementary exams in February and March this year.

Candidates completed the exams on Wednesday, 25 March, with Maths Paper 3. They started on 17 February with various language papers.

A total of 6 930 candidates applied to write at 169 exam centres in the province. Marking started as they completed the exams. The department is now collecting the remaining scripts for assessment.

The exams went smoothly in the Western Cape. The provisional date for the release of the results in the 28th of April. The national department of education will announce the final date.
