Statement by Donald Grant, MEC for Education in the Western Cape

Last night, the WCED were successful in obtaining an urgent interdict against the Congress of South African Students (COSAS).

The interdict restrains COSAS members from:

• Gathering, or causing a gathering, within 300m of any examination centre.
• Disrupting any educational activity at any examination centre.
• Intimidating or attacking any learner, educator or invigilator at any examination centre.
• Preventing any learner from writing their examinations.
• Causing any damage to property at any examination centre.

The interdict has also ordered COSAS to communicate the contents of this interdict to their members.
