Province delivers two new schools

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) will take delivery of two new schools next week, bringing the total number of new schools that are ready for occupation so far this year to 13.

The provincial government will complete 15 new schools this year to accommodate about 17 000 learners. The total investment is worth about R170-million.

Learners have already occupied 11 of the new schools, in areas ranging from Noordhoek to Delft, Mfuleni, Blue Downs, Kalkfontein, Table View, Mitchell’s Plain and Lwandle.

The WCED will take delivery of Lower Crossroads Secondary in Philippi East and Kalkfontein Primary in Kalkfontein next week.

Contractors are putting minor finishing touches to Insebensiswano Secondary in Philippi, and are busy completing an administration block and a forum at New Dawn Primary in Pacaltsdorp.

We expect that the Department of Transport and Public Works will confirm the delivery dates of the remaining two schools shortly.
