In support of the eLearning Game Changer, the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) presents guidelines on the use of cellular phones and other mobile technologies in public schools. The guideline document is distributed to assist schools in formulating and implementing their own mobile device usage policy. |

The guideline document seeks to offer schools the following guidance: |

To create insight and awareness about some of the opportunities presented by cellular phones and mobile devices for learners, educators, School Management Teams (SMTs), parents and schools within the learning environment. |
2.2 |
The potential benefits and risks associated with the implementation and use of mobile devices within the school environment. |
2.3 |
To reinforce the scope of learning and accessibility that comes with using mobile technologies and cellular phones in the learning environment. |
2.4 |
To assist public schools to develop their own policies in order to manage the use of cellular phones and mobile devices in schools. |
