The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is encouraging teachers to share their digital resources with the teaching community by uploading them to the WCED ePortal. This will extend the reach of digital resources to other teachers as well as learners across the province. |

To contribute to the ePortal, a simple once off, self-registration process needs to be completed. The attached document entitled "How to register on the WCED ePortal" (Annexure A) explains this registration process. |

Teachers are encouraged to upload digital resources for their own subject areas to the ePortal. The attached document entitled "How to add resources to the WCED ePortal" (Annexure B) explains the process of uploading digital resources to the portal. The resources can be: |

Self-created video clips – Teachers can record lessons, or parts of a lesson, by using a cell phone or any other suitable digital recording device. Free software exists to help with creating short video clips. Resources of this nature can be uploaded directly to the repository of the WCED ePortal. |

Open educational resources (OERs) – A wealth of curriculum related content is freely available on the internet. Depending on the copyright these resources can be directly uploaded to the repository of the WCED ePortal. Alternatively, upload only the url as a link to the source to the WCED ePortal. |
