The Department of Basic Education (DBE) issued Circular E8 of 2018 (attached as Annexure A) which relates to the implementation of the prescribed literature (2018 to 2021) for the Grade 12 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations for Latin Second Additional Language (SAL). |

The Independent Examination Board (IEB) is responsible for managing the assessment of Latin SAL on behalf of the DBE. |

The IEB has forwarded a list of prescribed literature for Latin SAL to all Grade 12 teachers of the subject. This list was also placed on the IEB’s website at the end of 2017. |

Please refer to the Annexure A for a list of prescribed literature for Latin SAL for 2018 to 2021. |

Principals are requested to bring the contents of this minute to the attention of all Grade 12 language teachers and learners to ensure that the correct literature is being studied. |
