GRADE 12 HISTORY EXAMINATION GUIDELINES FOR 2017–2019: NATIONAL SENIOR CERTIFICATE (NSC) EXAMINATIONS


1. The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) was requested by the Department of Basic Education in Circular E3 of 2017 to draw your attention to the examination guidelines for Grade 12 History for 2017–2019.
2. The 2017 History Examination Guidelines replaces the 2014 examination guidelines.
3. The content focus areas for History change every three years to ensure that all topics stipulated in the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS) are covered.
4. Enquiries regarding the History Examination Guidelines for 2017 should be directed to Ms B Tobin via email: Bridget.Tobin@westerncape.gov.za or on tel. no.: 021 467 2251.
5. Modulated Examination Option candidates writing History in June 2017 will be assessed on 2014–2016 content.
6. Please bring the content of this minute to the attention of all Grade 12 History teachers at your school.
