1. The National School Nutrition Programme (NSNP) invites principals of schools benefiting from this programme to participate in finding practical solutions to managing the programme at school, either as presenters or participants.

2. PURPOSE
The purpose of this mini conference is to share practical examples of strategies in which the programme can be run effectively at schools.

3. DATE, TIME AND VENUE
The mini conference will take place on Friday, 27 May 2016, from 15:00 - 19:00 and on Saturday, 28 May 2016, from 08:00 - 14:00 at the Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute. The mini conference programme will be made available closer to the time.

4. TOPICS AND INFORMATION FOR PRESENTERS

  • Best feeding practices at schools.
  • Safety and security.
  • Head Office record keeping.
  • Registers (fast and reliable).
  • What are the benefits?
  • Presentations can be in the form of posters or audio but are not limited to any form.
  • Participation of participants is critical ("hands-on, minds-on and words-on") meaning that the presentation should be interactive.
  • Duration 50 minutes. Allow 7-10 minutes for discussions and/or questions.
  • The venue will have a data projector and an interactive whiteboard (optional but can be arranged). Furniture can also be arranged to facilitate group discussions for a maximum of ten participants per table.
5. The mini conference is looking for presenters who can share best practices for using improved menu options within the NSNP's limited budget and promote community involvement in support of the programme.

6. Setting up food gardens (doing something from nothing) and the formation of gardens with other stakeholders will also be discussed.
