1. The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) concluded a new Microsoft Schools Agreement on behalf of schools.
2. Through this agreement, ordinary public and subsidised independent schools will be provided with Windows operating software and Microsoft Office application packages.
3. In order to obtain the software, schools should complete the attached order form and submit it via fax or email to Edumedia. Please note that the school can only request one copy per package per year. Schools within the metropolitan areas must arrange for the collection of the software packages from the Edumedia offices in Mowbray.
4. An updated order form and communication will be sent to schools as new versions of the software packages become available.
5. Schools can contact the Schools’ IT Helpdesk on 021 900 7123 should they require assistance with the installation of these software packages.
6. Principals should ensure the safekeeping of the installation discs and license keys. The software may also be installed on the personal computers of WCED-employed staff for the duration of the agreement.
7. In light of the forthcoming provision of LAN to schools, learners and staff members will be granted free access to Office 365 on up to 5 mobile devices per person.
