The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has provided high-speed broadband connectivity (WAN) for your school and implemented a wireless Local Area Network (LAN) as part of the eLearning Game Changer roll-out.
2.
The WAN and LAN enable internet access for your teachers and learners in all instructional areas at no cost to your school.
3.
Social media applications such as WhatsApp, Twitter and Facebook for teacher-andlearner collaborative work and knowledge sharing have been enabled on the WAN and LAN networks.
4.
The LAN user statistics currently indicate that the WAN and LAN is underutilised.
5.
Teachers and learners are encouraged to log on to the LAN using their smartphones, laptops and other devices, which will make teaching and learning by means of digital resources both possible and easier.
6.
Information and an easy step-by-step guide on how to log on to the wireless LAN have already been shared with the eLearning champion at your school.
7.
The guide on how to log on to the wireless LAN is attached to this minute.
8.
Should you require further assistance with regard to allowing your teachers and learners to log on to the wireless LAN, please contact the LAN helpdesk or your district eLearning adviser.
